Impacts of Giving

Main Content

Gifts from alumni, friends, parents and business play a critical role in strengthening the collections of Morris Library. Gifts, whether monetary or in-kind, from generous donors have allowed us to add traditional print materials, online resources, photographs, maps and other items to the holdings of the Library.

Gifts include the Myron Dillow Collection which spans over two hundred years of the Baptist Church in America. The Don Michel "Insight" Radio Program Collection contains interviews with innumerable public figures. Also, the Darwin Reid Payne Papers are an extensive archive of the theatrical design work of this legendary stage designer. Gifts have also been used to purchase the online historical Chicago Tribune and Wall Street Journal, as well as equipment and a multitude of print resources. These resources are used by students, faculty, and researchers from SIU and around the world.

Albert Camus wrote, “Real generosity toward the future lies in giving all to the present.” When you give to Morris Library you give to the education of the future leaders of the nation.
