Become a Donor
All gifts are appreciated and valued. However, unrestricted, outright gifts provide the Dean of Library Affairs with funds to address current opportunities and respond to unplanned needs. If you would like to make a gift, please visit https://siuf.org/giving/college-unit/library-affairs.php. After entering the donation amount, please select Morris Library from the list in box one. If you wish to support a specific program, the remaining boxes will ask for additional information. If you would prefer to make your gift using a check, please print the Gift Form and send it to the address on the form. If you have questions about making a gift, contact Dean John Pollitz at firstname.lastname@example.org or by calling 618-453-2522.
There are also a number of other ways for you to donate to Morris Library.
A planned gift helps to ensure the future of Morris Library, its programs and services, and may help to further your financial goals as well. Planned gifts include gifts through your will or living trust, charitable gift annuities, gifts of real property, gifts of life insurance and charitable trusts. Many of these gifts provide you with a charitable income tax deduction, and some even provide income payments to you for your lifetime. For more information contact Pamela Rathe, (618) 453-4907 or email@example.com.
An endowed fund is a way to give in perpetuity. You can provide support to a particular subject or area of the library. Through an outright gift of $25,000 or a pledge of $5,000 per year for five years, you can create an endowed fund.
Double, triple, or even quadruple your gift to Southern Illinois University Foundation through your employer’s matching gift program. Many corporations offer to match the gifts of not only current employees but also spouses, retirees and surviving spouses of retirees. Please contact your Human Resources/Personnel Department for information about the company’s program. Information is also available at http://www.matchinggifts.com/unh/.
Gifts in Honor
A special gift to Morris Library is a meaningful way to honor, or memorialize, a person, event or occasion. This can be through the purchase of a book, map, CD, DVD, other library materials or even a space at Morris Library. We will acknowledge your gift in all appropriate ways. Your name can also be noted in the catalog record. If you would like to take advantage of this opportunity please contact Dean John Pollitz at firstname.lastname@example.org or by calling 618-453-2522.
Donations in Kind
Special Collections Research Center may be interested in materials that are consistent with their collection development policy.
Internal Revenue Service regulations prohibit Library personnel from appraising gifts of material. The donor is responsible for determining the value of their gift prior to the donation. Any gift valued in excess of $4,999 must be accompanied by a written appraisal from a certified appraiser. Please see your tax advisor for advice and the proper forms. Reference books are available in many libraries to help you in determine the value of an item or collection. Additionally, websites such as Advanced Book Exchange, Bookfinder, and Alibris have information about book valuation.
